Praline Glazed Ham Recipe

Glazing a ham with pralines is an easy way to try something new and different while leaving a lasting impression on your dinner guests. This Praline Glazed Ham recipe uses a fully cooked ham, so all you have to do is make the quick glaze, slather it on, and bake for about 20 to 30 minutes to caramelize the outside.

Praline Glazed Ham Ingredients:

  • 1 fully cooked, bone-in, smoked ham (6 to 10 lbs)
  • 4 Original Creole pralines -OR- 6 oz Fallen Pralines
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp ground allspice
  • 3 tbsp Creole or coarse grain mustard
  • 1 tbsp black pepper

Praline Glazed Ham Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the pralines, water, mustard, pepper, and allspice.
  3. Stir until pralines have completely melted, about 5 minutes, then remove from heat.
  4. Set aside to cool.
  5. With a sharp knife, make shallow, quarter inch deep, diagonal cuts along the surface of the ham.
  6. When scoring the outside fat layer, try to minimize cutting into the meat beneath the fat.
  7. Then, make diagonal cuts in the opposite direction, forming diamond shapes in the fat layer.
  8. Place ham in a roasting pan large enough to contain it and the juices that will result from cooking.
  9. Spread half of the glaze over the entire ham and roast for 15 minutes, uncovered.
  10. Remove the ham from the oven, baste with remain glaze and continue to roast for another 15 minutes.
  11. Let ham rest for 15 minutes before slicing.

The Pecan Praline Glazed Ham tastes like heaven in your mouth. This Baked Ham Recipe with Pecan Praline Topping is one of the best that I have ever tasted. The ham provides a nice sweet flavor because the sugar melts in between the spiral layers of the ham.
